2. Her Wedges
Did you know royals are not permitted to wear wedges around Queen Elizabeth, simply because Her Majesty does not like them? To get around the protocol, Kate often chooses to rock the style outside of the palace.

"The Queen isn't a fan of wedged shoes. She really doesn't like them and it's well known among the women in the family," a royal source told Vanity Fair.

The queen is very particular about her shoes, and even has a “royal shoe-wearer” that breaks in her leather heels so she doesn't get blisters. “[The shoes] have to be immediately comfortable … she does get someone to wear them,” said Stewart Parvin, who has designed dresses for the queen since 2007. “The queen can never say ‘I’m uncomfortable, I can’t walk anymore.’ She has the right to have someone wear them in.”

Since the queen doesn't like wedges, the duchess often wears them when she is not in the monarch's presence. But even if she does, it's not exactly the end of the world. In 2019 the Queen joined Kate and Prince William for a visit to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, where Kate was wearing a pair of wedges and an Erdem dress. There was no commotion over the duchess's chosen footwear, which shows the queen might be becoming more tolerant.
