Why It Works: Cindy Crawford

Just look at her. It’s as if nary a wrinkle has passed her brow since the first day of House of Style*. And if further confirmation of Cindy’s timeless appeal were needed, look no further than the dumbfounded stare of LAX security detail as the Sports Illustrated alum and original supermodel breezes past — surely smuggling more than her fair allotment of carry-on cosmetics because really, who’s going to confiscate beauty products off Cindy Crawford? Certainly not that guy. Now let’s tear our eyes away from that ridiculous bone structure and fortuitous beauty mark, and talk about effortless elongation.
*(Anyone heard from Daisy Fuentes recently?)

The Shirt: A cowl-necked, tunic-y neutral piece that on anyone else could read somewhere between Lane Bryant and Lawrence of Arabia, Cindy’s drapey cinched-at-the-waist shirt is a study in relaxed elegance. Word to the wise: Don’t attempt this unless your body is unfeasibly long, or you’re taking the dare and rocking it as a minidress.

The Boots: These probably pass for thigh-high on mere mortals, but on Crawford they’re a perfect equestrian knee-height. Sleek and black, they’re demonstrably conducive to strutting and all things “take charge”, should the need to swat an overly friendly cocktail waitress away from hubby Rande Gerber arise. The double buckle detail at the top draws the eye to those ridiculous long pegs.

The Shades: Somehow, even indoors, these classic aviators score below the tipping point on the pretention scale. Maybe it’s because she was at her peak when Top Gun came out. Yeah, that’s probably it.
