What to Wear: To a Dive Bar

(Source: Free People, Urban Outfitters, Nordstrom)

The weekend is finally here and if you're anything like us, you have plans to go out to the local dive bar (Erotic Photohunt, anyone?). This calls for an ensemble that is comfortable, casual, and definitely not trying too hard. For a night of beer, darts, and pool in a gritty lair, it's best to leave the dress and heels at home. We've picked out alternatives low-key enough for the occassion without sacrificing killer style.

Free People Distressed Leather Moto Jacket, $168, at Nordstrom; Chaser Pink Floyd Burnout Tank Top, $74, at Urban Outfitters

A leather moto jacket belongs in every closet since you can throw it over anything and instantly look cool. You'll likely take it off as the night progresses, so pick out a unique top. A vintage band tee, or in this case a racerback tank, is both comfy and a conversation starter.

Levi's Revel Bold Curve Skinny Jeans, $98, at Levi's; Jeffrey Campbell Everly Bootie, $199.95, at Nordstrom

Like we said earlier, don't step into a dive bar in a dressy skirt or sequin frock. Classic, fitted jeans in a dark wash are sexy yet simple. Cheers for a night you can ditch your heels–flat booties are the smarter choice. We love this Jeffrey Campbell pair for its edgy buckles and hardware.

Kenneth Jay Lane Double Layer Chain Necklace, $75, at Shopbop; Fossil Syndey Top Zip Chain Crossbody, $128, at Fossil

Accessories are best kept minimal, but we suggest embellishing your tee with a set of chain-link necklaces. As for packing your essentials, our pick is a brightly colored crossbody bag (you can even remove the straps to make it a clutch) so you'll be hands-free all night.
