If we may be so bold as to make a sartorial prediction for 2014, or, forever, black lace will never go out of style. Sexy, feminine, delicate and versatile, black lace makes the perfect designer canvas––especially for working red carpet magic. Take, for example, Amy Adams. At the New York premiere of American Hustle, the actress oozed sensual, ladylike lamour in her long black lace Elie Saab gown, with see-through panels. Paired with Christian Louboutin shoes, and a Valentino clutch, Amy evoked '70s sexiness and contemporary class.

If you're hankering to add a little black lace number to your repertoire, the choices are endless. We recently tracked down some affordable alternatives to a stunning sheer lace dress (by Australian label lover) that caught our fancy. So don't be shy: party like it's 1979––in true American Hustle tradition. Amy would be proud.
