'Revenge' Season 2, Episode 15 Recap - 'Retribution'
(ABC) Revenge Season 2 Episode 15 recap
Phew! Last night's episode was one big emotional roller coaster ride—hang on so you can catch up!
And then there were two: Jack Porter miraculously survived the shooting on The Amanda (had the bullet entered his torso two millimeters to the left and we'd have witnessed a double funeral.) When he comes to, he's greeted by little brother Declan and Emily who tell him that his son Carl is fine, but Faux-manda has sadly passed on. Cue the dramatic tears.
Parting is such sweet sorrow: Now that Nate Ryan and Amanda Clarke (a.k.a. Faux-manda) are dead, everyone's hearts are heavy with grief. (Not!) Well, except Emily Thorne. She's back on her war path (now more than ever), and the Graysons are set to be on the receiving end since Emily knows they're behind the drama that caused Faux-manda's death. Can't say that we blame her.
Conrad and Victoria are in cahoots again: Speaking of the Graysons, the dynamic/diabolical husband and wife duo are back to playing nice with one another. They speak with Mr. Trask, as they're anxious to find out whether or not the Initiative bought their cockamamy story about Amanda being responsible for Helen's disappearance. They also inquire about the whereabouts of Emily's computer that houses all of Grayson Global's dirty secrets on the hard drive. Trask informs them that he's not done with his investigation and abruptly leaves. In that moment, Victoria and Conrad (who still plans to run for governor) realize Jack Porter is the only person alive that could possibly know the horrible truth about them.
Angling Aiden: Emily asks Aiden Mathis to spend more time trying to get closer to Daniel, so Aiden asks him for the available seat on Grayson Global's board of directors. Daniel asks his mother Victoria for her opinion, and she tells him to test Aiden with Helen's investment accounts. If he refuses, he's probably involved with the Initiative. If he successfully completes the trade, he's probably trustworthy. Aiden proves his commitment to Daniel.
Daniel's been busy: Daniel finally learns the extent of the Initiative's involvement in the crash of Flight 197 and how they left a trail that leads back to Grayson Global. Plus, he threatened Nolan for more information on Carrion and whether or not it's been destroyed. And, he also finally gets rid of the video camera disguised as a clock that as placed in his office by the Initiative. Now he can work in peace. Or so he thinks!
Trashley-Ashley has a conscience: Everyone's not-so-favorite Euro-trash executive assistant brazenly asks Conrad if he had anything to do with Faux-manda's tragic end. He flat out denies it (liar!), as well as reminding her that if he had anything to do with it, she's just a culpable since she helped broker the ill-fated deal with Nate Ryan to begin with. Bloop!
Charlotte's starting to do a little digging: After identifying Faux-manda's body at the coroner's office, Charlotte (the half-sister of Faux-manda and Daniel Grayson) has taken it upon herself to find more people from Faux-manda's past to attend her funeral, since she had so little friends in the Hamptons due to her father's horrible underserved reputation. Against her mother Victoria's wishes, she starts searching online and finds Eli James, Faux-manda's foster brother.
Padma finally gets what she wanted: Nolan had Padma's father's finger tested to confirm his identity, and after bearing witness to the pain Faux-manda's death has caused everyone, he decides that enough is enough. He finishes writing the final sequence on Carrion and hand delivers it to Padma on a USB drive, along with a little warning: "I can't tell you what to do Padma. But when they make contact, keep in mind--the people who took your father don't have the best track record when it comes to fulfilling the end of their bargain." Decisions, decisions.
Jack finally gets a clue: While Jack's crying hysterically over the untimely death of his new wife, Conrad stops by his hospital room to offer his condolences and inform Jack that he's picking up he's hospital bill. But Jack knows what Conrad is really there for. Jack thanks him and leads Conrad to believe that he knows absolutely nothing about the whereabouts of the computer Faux-manda had been threatening the Graysons with. He checks out of the hospital to recover at home--and search for the laptop, of course. In a fit of rage he smashes a jar full of sea glass and finds a locker key that was hidden inside. Jack opens it and uncovers the password-protected computer, along with an old handwritten note detailing Faux-manda and Emily's past relationship in juvenile detention. The jig is up. Well, almost.
And gets pissed at Emily: Emily goes to visit Jack just before Faux-manda's funeral and he furiously informs her that he knows all about their teenage friendship. (Luckily he still doesn't know that she's actually the real Amanda!) He's devastated to have been duped for so long, and asks Emily to leave. She does, and goes on to deliver the eulogy at Faux-manda's funeral. After it's over, Emily is chatting with Nolan when Jack abruptly drags him away to help crack the laptop's passcode. They get back to the Stowaway where Jack left the computer, only to find his room ransacked and the laptop missing. Surprise, surprise.
About that computer: Turns out, Aiden stole it and returned it to Emily, since it's actually hers. She angrily tosses it into the ocean to protect Jack and because it derailed her from her original mission--making Conrad and Victoria pay for what they did to her father. Without it, she can get right back to business.
A stranger among us: We briefly meet Eli, Faux-manda's foster brother, at the tail end of the episode. He's at the cemetery paying his final respects to Faux-manda while engaging in small talk with Emily. At night. In the rain. Of course. What a way to set the scene!
And now, our questions—inquiring minds want to know:
-What will Padma do with Carrion now that she has it? Hand it over to Mr. Trask and team on the off-chance that they'll deliver her father in one piece as promised (sans finger, of course)?
-Who's going to find the laptop? You know good and well we haven't seen the end of it.
-Faux-manda was buried next to David Clarke… When Emily finally dies, where will she be buried?
-Ummm, what is Amanda's long-lost foster brother Eli Smith going to add to this already intriguing story? (Side note: We're SO glad to see more racial diversity being added to the cast!)
