StyleBistro Awards 2012: Cast Your Vote for Shoe of the Year
Well, it's the final few days of voting in the first-annual StyleBistro Awards and we definitely saved one of the best categories for last—Shoe of the Year! Whether it's the Prada flame-car shoe or one of Kate Middleton's faves, we want to know: which is your favorite? Vote below and don't forget to check back August 21st to see the results!
Tabitha Simmons Bailey Floral-Print Lace-Up Sandal: Prints were all the rage this past spring—especially for the feet. Tabitha Simmons was at the forefront of that trend with her micro-floral sandals that were so perfectly suited to spring and summer, they still make our feet skip with excitement.
Prada "Hot Rod" Heel: Prada's women and cars spring 2012 show caused such a riot that the Prada and Schiaparelli exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art actually sold little flame shoes in the gift shop for all to have. Check out one of our favorite pairs from spring—they have tail lights! We're pretty sure these will forever be known one of the most badass shoes ever.
(via 2012 The Walt Disney Studios)Christian Louboutin Cinderella Shoe: It's really just a classic love story: girl meets shoe, girl falls in love with shoe, girl buys shoe, girl lives happily ever after. But seriously, we think Louboutin did an incredible job recreating the drama of the iconic glass slipper with his crystallized butterflies and delicate lace (trust us, we're experts—we watched Cinderella every day as children). Forget the glass, we're fantasizing about our prince picking up this pair.
Miu Miu Glitter Bootie: A fashionista favorite, these glitter booties kick-started the sparkle revolution—it's hard to shop anywhere now without running into heaps of glittered. The second this shoe hit the style scene it was all over the blogosphere with "I wants!" and "Love!" stamped underneath its image. Besides the glitter, you should also note the rounded heel shape and the criss-crossed suede. We've definitely never seen anything like this one before.
Louis Vuitton Merry Go Round Mule: Forget the on-trend metallic toe cap and amazing wide strap and ivory button—this shoe made the cut mainly because Marc Jacobs had to actually glue his models into them so they could make it down the runway! But don't worry, it was only wig glue. After all, fashion is pain, right?
L.K. Bennett Sledge Shoe: If you religiously follow everything Kate Middleton does, than you know that this shoe is her absolute favorite. A classic color in the perfect pump shape, this neutral patent-leather shoe can go with anything. Plus, we feel a lot better knowing it's princess-approved.
Kanye West's Giuseppe Zanotti Shoes: Oh Kanye. These uber beaded $5,810 Zanotti heels are pretty outrageous (and we can only imagine how heavy they are). But that doesn't faze GF Kim Kardashian, who regularly steps out in the shoes, or Naomi Campbell, who was the first one to be spotted in them.
Manolo Blahnik for J.Crew: Probably the biggest fashion upset of the year, the expected collaboration was shown at J.Crew's fall 2012 presentation, but never came to be. We don't really know why, both parties said something along the lines of it "wasn't the right time," and they "still have a great relationship" yada yada yada. So sad, they had so much potential!
Alexander McQueen Fall 2012 Runway shoes: We died when we saw Sarah Burton's latest McQueen line for fall 2012. So much volume, color, and shape! The shoes really stole the show, though, with fuzzy booties and rose appliqué embellished platforms floating down the runway. Basically, these are some really killer kicks that look way too fun to wear.
