Last week, two of our favorite things in the world—food and shoes—united in the most brilliant way possible. No, seriously. The largest shoe department in the world—at Macy's flagship store in New York's Herald Square—got a restaurant.
The kicker? The restaurant serves Champagne and chocolate (which are, coincidentally, two of our other favorite things).
The brand-new Herald Square Cafe is part of the legendary department store's $400 million dollar renovation. The 1,434-square-foot space is situated within the largest shoe department in the world and is decorated in heritage marble and wood accents—with curved banquettes upholstered in cream and gunmetal gray.
On the menu? Moet & Chandon Champagne, hand-crafted chocolates by Vosges, savory and sweet food and snacks, wine served by the glass, and a selection of coffee by Starbucks Reserve.
"Our goal in developing The World's Largest Shoe Floor was to create the ultimate shoe shopping experience for the Macy's customer," said District VP and Herald Square GM Patti Lee. "The Herald Square Cafe plays an integral role in this vision, elevating the shopping experience and resulting in a virtual wonderland of indulgence for our customers with amenities never before offered in the same setting. An incomparable assortment of the season's hottest shoes, combined with the finest chocolates, coffee, and Champagne, all within arm's reach—is there a shopping experience that is more indulgent, luxurious, and fantasy-filled than that?"
What do you think of Macy's idea to merge shoe-shopping with chocolates and champagne? In case you hadn't already noticed, we think it's brilliant! Have you visited the Herald Square Cafe yet? Tell us what you think in the comments section, below!
