10 NYFW Brands We Wish Would Collaborate with H&M and Target in 2014

We know it’s only October, but Santa, if you’re listening, all we want for Christmas this year are a few announcements from H&M and Target regarding their upcoming designer collaborations. (Well, that, and a pair of 3.1 Phillip Lim Ora Over-The-Knee Boots!)

Since this year’s highly anticipated Isabel Marant H&M capsule collection is locked, loaded, and coming to stores in exactly one month (yay!), we’re already anticipating who the two high street stores will tap next. Here (in no particular order), our sartorial wish list.

Altuzarra: We think Joseph has what it takes to elevate typical workwear to an entirely different level. (Especially if you work in a creative environment.) While we doubt a mainstream spin-off office collection would be as sexy as what's pictured below, we could certainly find room for a few more fitted blazers, slinky slim cut skirts with side splits, and silky button-down blouses in our closet.

Cushnie et Ochs: They say if you’ve got it, flaunt it, and this year it seems like every fashionista-in-the-know is strutting her stuff in this duo’s daring designs. We’re not sure how well sheer paneling and extreme cutouts would go over with the wholesome girl-next-door, but something tells us these talented designers would be able to tone the sex appeal down and find middle (read: a bit more wearable) ground.

Alexander Wang: We'd be remiss if we left fashion's wunderkid off this list. The handsome long-haired designer has a knack for creating '90's inspired looks that 'It girls' are clamoring to wear today. While his designs are usually cut for pencil-thin figures, we think a collaboration with an affordable retailer would inspire him to produce a cool, throwback assortment that would allow everyone an opportunity to own a piece of this sure-to-be covetable collection.

Edun: No one—and we repeat, no one—does exotic, ethnic prints better than founder Ali Hewson and husband Bono (yes, of U2 fame). Can you imagine how cool it would be if they produced an affordable sixty piece mix-and-match collection full of vibrant colors and different geometric patterns? Step aside Solange Knowles!

Jenny PackhamKate Middleton’s go-to eveningwear designer certainly knows a thing or two about after-hours glitz and glamour, which is why we’d love to see her produce an inexpensive collection of flouncy gowns and dreamy party dresses. While the average Jane might not attend as many red carpet functions as the Duchess of Cambridge, every girl still needs a few fancy frocks at the ready. Never know when you’ll be whisked off somewhere fabulous!

Jill Stuart: Her feminine, flirty aesthetic is incredibly appealing to those diehard party girls who have a street glam sense of style, coupled with a touch of New York bad-girl edge. We're 100% sure girls everywhere from Denver to Tulsa to Portland would get in line to score a few of her always-on-trend looks.

Milly: Now that the corset and sheer skirt trend is really ramping up on the red carpet, it's time for Michelle Smith to strike while the iron is hot so she'll be at the forefront of the movement once it inevitably trickles down to mainstream. But if see-through isn't for you, we're guessing she'd be savvy enough to also produce several looks in similar body-conscious silhouettes in far less risqué fabrics.

Ohne Titel: Every girl could use a few killer cocktail dresses (or two-pieces) in her arsenal, which is why we'd love to see this design duo bring their futuristic style sensibilities to the masses. Imagine their avant-garde silhouettes with a little less sheer fabric and a couple of more inches added to the hemlines... The result would be sophisticated yet still edgy after-hours apparel for the everyday woman.

Noon by Noor: Even though they're relatively new to the scene, we think a capsule collection with a major retailer is exactly what this Bahraini design duo needs to cement their place on the style map. Their adorable collections are always equally as girly as they are timeless, so we're sure anyone who snaps up a few of their pieces will treasure them for years to come.

Victoria Beckham: Serious question: Who knew a Spice Girl (regardless of how posh) would grow up to become a luxury designer that churns some of the best frocks we've seen in ages? Dreams do come true, which is why we hope VB partners with a significantly cheaper retailer so we all can fulfill our dreams of owning one of her looks, too.
