Shopping That Gives Back: Three Charitable E-Commerce Sites

(Courtesy: Given Goods; Rubina Dazzle Foldover Clutch, $112) Beyond expanding your wardrobe and fulfilling a desire to stay on trend, shopping can also be a charitable endeavor, as proved by this trio of e-commerce sites. Launched within the past year, they all have two things in common: 1) a curated selection of high-quality merchandise and 2) a commitment to benefitting a range of causes—from supporting artisans in developing countries to protecting the environment. No need to pinch your pennies here, as they're sure to be well spent.

Given Goods

Socially conscious finds include geometric Rubina clutches ($112), which support jobs and education for women in Kolkata, India, as well as Hearts chain bracelets ($24). Made from upcycled bullet casings, the wristwear is produced domestically with minimal impact on the environment.

The Little Market
(Courtesy: The Little Market) Burgeoning style star Lauren Conrad teamed up with her friend Hannah Skvarla to create The Little Market, which was inspired by their trips abroad. The site aims to connect women making handmade goods in Bolivia, Mexico and Tunisia, among other countries, with customers via the Internet. The online shop of ethically-sourced accessories, luggage and home décor items includes Nappa Dori ikat satchels ($180) made in India and Manuela Ramos alpaca pom pom beanies ($40) knitted in Peru.

Zady

A portion of everything sold—including Ixtapa cutout tees ($84) and Kristen Elspeth bar studs ($68)—goes to The Bootstrap Project, which helps artisans in developing countries grow their small businesses.
