Weekend Beauty Dare: Cool Down With A Peppermint And Eucalyptus Pedi Treatment

(Source: Thinkstock; Art By Tanya Leigh Washington)The best part about weekends? They're the time to relax and indulge in some pampering. In case this week has been extra stressful, we've got the perfect DIY project to help you calm down—from your feet up! President and founder of Bellacures salon Samira Far shares with us a simple pedi treatment based off of the salon's summertime "Pedi-Cool" pedicure. To get a similar experience at home, follow Far's easy DIY recipe to give your feet a cool and refreshing treat.

Bellacures's Peppermint and Eucalyptus Cooling Gel

Ingredients:
Six cups of aloe vera gel
Three drops of peppermint oil
Three drops of eucalyptus oil
Three drops of tea tree oil
Ten drops of vitamin E oil
Ten drops of coconut oil

Steps:
Mix all ingredients together until you create a gel-like mixture. (It should smell minty and be only slightly oily.) Take a handful of the just-mixed cooling gel and massage it directly onto your feet, ankles, and calves until it is fully absorbed. It's okay if you feel a little sticky or oily after applying it, because you will rinse it off post-treatment. In no time, you should start to feel a soothing and cooling sensation wherever gel was applied. Let the treatment sit on skin for however long you'd like, then rinse if off with your favorite exfoliator. Top off with a moisturizing lotion to seal in hydration. For an added cooling effect, store the gel mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Your cooling gel will keep for three to four weeks.

Benefits:
Use this as a one-step treatment on your feet to relax and cool off after a hard day, or combine it with the other elements to create an entire at-home spa experience. Additionally, this gel treatment can be repurposed to soothe and treat a summer sunburn. The cooling properties of eucalyptus and peppermint act to soothe and comfort skin, while aloe vera is great for inflammation or irritation.

So kick off those heels and treat yourself this weekend. You deserve it!
