Refresh Your Skincare Routine With Face Mists

We know what you're thinking: you can't possibly add yet another step to your already exhaustive skincare routine, especially not one that sounds like glorified water in a spray bottle. But hear us out: Face mists are not only easy to use—it takes just a few seconds to spritz one all over your face—they also boast benefits that far outweigh the minimal time investment they require.

"Facial toners cleanse skin by purifying the pores, killing bacteria, and providing hydration," says New York-based facialist Cecilia Wong, whose Rejuvenating Toner Mist ($32) initially got us hooked. "They also balance the pH levels of skin, which keeps oiliness at bay." While those with oily and acne-prone skin can benefit most from facial toners' pore-degunking qualities, even sensitive and dry complexions will get a boost. "Select one containing vitamins and essential oils, which will provide extra hydration and nourishment," suggests Wong.

While we like to use a facial toner immediately after cleansing both morning and night, you can mist your visage with one at any point throughout the day for a healthy, dewy appearance—they even double as a makeup-setting spray, so you don't have to worry about runny mascara. If we've convinced you on the importance of having a face mist in your medicine cabinet, read on for our the ones that have wowed us.

New and Notable
(Source: Sulwhasoo, Repechage, Restorsea)Korean brand Sulwhasoo's Hydro-Aid Moisturizing Lifting Mist ($45) relies on aromatherapeutic herbs to nourish skin, while Repechage's Algo Mist Hydrating Seaweed Facial Spray ($33.50) and Restorsea's Recharging Finishing Mist ($100) both look to the sea for their nutrient source. The former is packed with seaweed concentrates while the latter features purified water and a potent enzyme released when baby salmon hatch, accounting for its spendy price (and Gwyneth Paltrow seal of approval).

Tried and True
(Source: ASOS, Cecilia Wong, Tata Harper)The mix of lavender and peppermint in Anatomicals Spray Misty For Me Facial Spritz ($11.29) is at once calming and uplifting—we feel instant stress relief the moment the droplets hit our face. Cecilia Wong's Rejuvenating Toner Mist ($32) is a custom blend of botanicals such as rosemary, chamomile, and lavender that revives our complexions, while our skin absolutely laps up Tata Harper's Hydrating Floral Essence ($85), which gets its lovely scent from elasticity-promoting jasmine and tangerine.
