How to Mix and Match Florals Like Olivia Palermo

Olivia Palermo (Getty)Wearing two different floral prints risks you multiplying or dividing your apparent age by two. When it comes down to it, mixing and matching of any sort is an art. So it was inspiring to see Olivia Palermo pull it off like it was a breeze at today's polo cup in Connecticut.

How did she do it? We break down her outfit tactic here:

1. If you're going full coverage pick airy sheer fabrics that show a glimmer of skin. This cuts down on any frumpy factor.
2. Wear edgy footwear. In this case, Olivia slipped on a pair of eyelet Louboutin sandals with a sharp stiletto heel. Sexy yet seasonal, we dig it.
3. Sport tough accessories. If your clothes are on the extreme side of soft, balance them out with a croc-embossed bag and metallic jewelry like Olivia.

But don't be afraid to mix up the formula—add in bright red lips, go for a shorter structured skirt and pair it with a silky contrasting blouse, wear bright accessories and muted prints, or muted accessories and bright prints. Experiment, have fun, just know it can be done. Without looking like you're 10 or 80.
