Obsessed: 'Anna Karenina' and How to Get Keira Knightley's Old World Look Now

(Courtesy of Focus Features)

Not going to lie—we're pretty darn excited for Anna Karenina's release next month. Not only is it a juicy romantic period drama starring Keira Knightley (a tell-tale sign that it will be amaze) and Jude Law (we've missed you Jude!) it satisfies our inner literary and fashion nerds.

Period dramas can be some of the best inspiration for your real-life wardrobe (cough Downton Abbey cough). So, with that said, check out how we'd interpret Anna Karenina's glamorous late nineteenth-century jewels, hair pieces, and gowns and integrate that inspiration into our very-own modern-day closets.

Pearls upon pearls:

One of the main shots in the Anna Karenina trailer is of Knightley doused in pearls. Why not do the same for your average sweater, dress, or tee? It will instantly bring some timeless elegance to any ol' outfit. To get this look, you'll need a multi-strand pearl necklace, like J.Crew's pearl-twisted hammock necklace ($98) and an ornate pearl-drop earring, like Carolee's double drop pearl earrings ($38).

Fur scarf and embellished velvet jacket:

You can't channel nineteenth-century Russia without at least one fur piece. Try a thick fur (or faux-fur) scarf or stole, like Tart's "Zhara" scarf ($62), over a slim-fitting sweater or dress. As for outerwear, a luxurious velvet coat or jacket with old-world embroidery (notice Knightley's feather embroidery above) should do the trick! Try Mario Borsato's vintage short jacket ($204.40) over skinny jeans for a night out, or wear it over a skirt for new take on your everyday work wear.

Feathery head-piece and pussybow top:

Almost every shot of Knightley in the trailer features some sort of feather-adorned hat. To get the look without dressing too old-school, try a feather-embellished headband like this Banana Republic feather sparkle headband ($35). Another look we love is her pussybow shirt that's most-definitely in style right now—go for Chemins Blanc long sleeve shirt ($148) for a similar look.
