1) When in Doubt, Choose Black

Pastels and brights may come and go, but black is forever. There's a reason this dark hue is a classic fashion staple. It's sexy, mysterious, goes with everything, and looks just as put together the morning after, especially when paired with oversized sunglasses. Courtney Love knows how to wear black to her advantage, this trendsettinglbad girl gone good literally wrote the book on bad girl style. (In fact, her controversial essay "Bad Like Me," which appeared in Bust magazine circa 1996, changed the way I thought about myself.)

2) Leather, Lace, and Sheer Are Your Best Friends
Oh, yes they are––but all good things in moderation. These flirty, feminine fabrics add a touch of mystery and sensuality to any ensemble, and certainly provide fodder for the imagination, but less is more, ladies. There's a fine line between a little cut-out or sheer back or sleeve and donning a fishnet body stocking-never a good look, unless, of course, you're performing on stage. You can embrace these sexy fabrics while still keeping it classy. Case in point: even Angelina Jolie's red carpet gowns rock peek-a-boo elements.

Let's face it, stilettos, platform booties, or other forms of high-heeled footwear might not be the most comfortable sartorial option on the planet, but they're damn well among the sexiest. And beyond the change in posture, height, and style that a nice pair of heels add to a bad girl's repertoire, they're also feminine, hot, and add just a touch of attitude to one's walk and physicality. This final style tip might be the most important of the lot. True bad girls are actually some of the nicest, kindest, and warmest ladies around, maybe 'cause they have nothing to prove. They tend to be courageous, connected to their feminine energy, love to have fun, and don't let other people's opinion affect their decisions. They have enough lo-pro confidence to let others live with the same freedom and respect with which they themselves expect to be treated, and care about other people's feelings enough not to gossip. With her social media prowess and ability to keep her cool with so many details of her life under public scrutiny, Rihanna is a great example of this quality.
