We've already established that absolutely anyone can wear red lipstick—it's all down to figuring out exactly which shade is perfect for your complexion—so hopefully by now you know that it shouldn't be reserved for celebrities on the red carpet or Saturday date night. It works on a regular Thursday afternoon, too.

Actress Ali Larter painted her pout crimson and effectively elevated a vintage denim skirt, long-sleeved tee and heels, and Shailene Woodley went the same route to dress up leggings and creepers. Then there's Gwen Stefani—essentially the celebrity spokeswoman for red lipstick—who jazzed up a Burberry trench coat and Converse sneakers combo with a rich red lippie.

The lesson to be learned here: Never leave home without a tube in your purse or pocket. Whether you're strolling around town in sneakers, leaving Pilates class in flip-flops, or even picking up the kids from school in combat boots, your outfit doesn't have to be "dressy" to be red-lipstick worthy—it's the ultimate insta-accessory that adds that certain wow factor to every look anyway.
