The Wall Street Journal's 'Proenza for Conway' Michelle Obama Tag Explained, Possibly

This morning, we couldn't believe it when we saw the Wall Street Journal tagged Michelle Obama's State of the Union Jason Wu dress as "Proenza for Conway" in its Speakeasy post. But now, we think we've gotten to the bottom of it—and maybe it wasn't underhanded snark after all!
Turns out, veteran journalist Ben Widdicombe joke-tweeted this fashion credit during last night's State of the Union address:
And the reporter at the Wall Street Journal apparently took it at face value—you can see the original screengrab here.
The Wall Street Journal has since pulled its Proenza for Conway tag:
