Red has become quite the popular choice at the Oscars, and it's easy to see why: It rolls sex-appeal, drama and high-fashion all into one. Each year the stars surprise us with new ways to wear the ravishing hue.

This year, Kate Hudson looked simply sinister in a fringed Versace gown, while Emma Stone played up the romantic side of the color in her bowed Giambattista Valli dress.

Rosie Huntington-Whitely never looks anything but sultry and brought her sexy prowess to the Vanity Fair after-party in a vibrant Antonio Berardi column dress. Last year's Best Actress winner, Natalie Portman, took a different approach to the hot shade in a vintage Christian Dior dress. The sweet polka-dots and simple silhouette stole the show!

If these looks don't inspire you to try out red for your next night out, we're not sure what will.
