(ImaxTree) Donna Karan fall 2013
"I am a New York woman," Donna Karan
writes in her fall 2013 show notes, "Embracing the world. Designing clothes that move day to night, Monday to Sunday in any city, every culture."
Her latest collection, which she dubbed "Sensual, Soulful, Sculptural," is a master class in dark, fluid glamour—a new iteration of her iconic "Seven Easy Pieces" system of dressing. The fall show featured a series of jersey bodies and bases—"whether a bodysuit, dress, skirt, jumpsuit, slouch jodphurs, or leggings"—layered under textural sweaters, cardigans, outerwear, accessories, and toppers in colors spanning blackest blacks to gleaming metallics to rich, nature-inspired barks and rusts.
"These are clothes for women like me," Karan writes, "Who live and work 24/7 with passion and dress with emotion. I believe the body talks a language all its own. Depending on your DNA, hese clothes say something new every time and create a statement all your own."
Donna Karan might be a superstar designer, but she is a woman after our own hearts. (ImaxTree) Donna Karan fall 2013
