Doo.Ri Spring 2012: Languid Elegance

As always, the Doo.Ri line offers an element of serenity with soft neutrals and masterfully draped knits. For Spring 2012, however, Doo-Ri Chung steps out of her comfort zone to infuse bold colors and prints with a taste of structured wovens into her collection.

Citrus hues of orange and yellow amongst vivid violets breath new life into the line. "It's not an explosion of color," she told StyleBistro backstage, "but it comes in bits and pieces." Chung's embarkment into prints was inspired by the black-and-white illustrations of the legendary illustrator, Aubrey Beardsley. "There is something beautifully elegant to it that leant itself not only to the prints but the silhouettes of the collection," Chung said, "There is something really languidly elegant to it."

Our favorite elements, however, are within Chung's expertise—the quietly powerful juxtapositions the Doo.Ri clientele craves—most notably a crisp white button-down transformed into a draped jersey frock and a delicate nude pleated gown armored with leather detailing. Languid elegance, indeed.
