Monique Lhuillier Spring 2013: Under the Sea
(Imax Tree)Despite having a large celebrity clientele (the likes of Eva Longoria, Sofia Vergara, and Olivia Wilde), Monique Lhuillier's Spring 2013 show last night was a quiet one. No photogs clamoring to capture famous front-rowers, just beautiful clothes—perfect for the serene under-the-sea theme.
Varying blues, teals, and fuchsias floated down the runway, all reminiscent of ocean life. Some with fluttering pleated gills, others sequined like light-catching waves. From iridescent party dresses to dyed day designs with finned sleeves, the motif rang loud and clear (without looking costume-y, thank goodness). Of course, Lhuillier wouldn't do a show without a fantastical delicate lace gown or two. The designer also debuted her shoe collection and it was precisely what you'd picture from the eveningwear line: elegant strappy heeled sandals.
