Divine Opulence: Marchesa Fall 2012

Marchesa Fall 2012 (Imax Tree)

Marches Fall 2012 (Imax Tree)
It looks like Georgina Chapman has lined up some new red carpet fodder for Lea Michele.

Marchesa never holds back when it comes to embellishments: Wispy feathers, crackled lace and tulle (heaps of tulle) always make it into the brazenly ornate line.

For Fall 2012, the inspiration was William-Adolphe Bouguereau's panting of two angels and a young woman. You don't need to be familiar with the French painter to see the heavenly correlation in the airy chiffons and light-reflective beading. The designer has clearly been taking notes: Hints of Valentino's romance and Alexander McQueen's regality were intertwined throughout the collection.

The label caters to Oscar-caliber occasions—and just in time. We can picture the short flirtatious designs on Selena Gomez while this liquid gold number is made for the likes of Sofia Vergara or Anne Hathaway.
