(Photo by Getty)When in Williamsburg, do as the Williamsburg girls do—or so the saying went at the
Ruffian spring 2013 show at
New York Fashion Week this morning.
New York-based designers
Claude Morais and
Brian Wolk repped their hood for the spring collection, styling their attitude-infused gals with Brooklyn-gone-couture pieces like cropped linen blazers, oversized blouses, and ladylike brocades.
What really gave Ruffian's signature soft-and-sweet aesthetic downtown edge, though, was the daring hair and makeup.

"It was very important that we did what the Williamsburg girl does," Morais told us about the mussed-up, to-the-heavens pompadours. "We wanted the hair to be
deconstructed and more undone, like a night after partying. Or just as
an attitude for day. I think it brought some drama to the clothes and captured that eccentric kind of thing."

MAC's expert makeup artist
James Kaliardos used MAC "Mineralized Foundation," a new formula set to launch this spring, to give the girls a dewy, translucent finish. Using a heavy hand, he applied "Luna" cream color base on the cheek bones, penciled in the brows to make them ultra-bold, and swished a soft gray hue on the eyelids.
Only the three crimson-haired models got a bold red lip—
Ruffian Red, an alluring blue-red lipstick the two brands collaborated on for spring 2012. The rest were finished with
Ruffian Nude, a pale peach. To keep the look fresh and effortless—like the hipsters do—Kaliardos stayed shy from using any mascara or eyeliner.

ooh-ing and
aah-ing all over the simple-yet-statement-making bling.
Take a peek at our five favorite styles from the show to see the how the entire look came together in one hipster-chic encore.
