Serena Williams Wants to Open a Nail Salon, Film a Reality TV Show About It

The nail art Serena Williams serves up on the court is almost as famous as those medal-worthy swings of hers—not to mention she's studied cosmotology and created a line of polishes for OPI—so this shouldn't come as too much of a shocker. But... the tennis champ wants to open her own nail salon! And (okay, shocker!) she hopes to chronicle all the happenings that come along with running her new biz in a reality TV series.
In a recent interview with Buzzfeed Fashion, filmmaker Michelle Major—who's currently working on Venus and Serena, a documentary on the sisters' rise to fame, both in sports and fashion—dropped this doozy:
"During Grand Slams, to sooth herself, she’ll sit there with her assistant and physiotherapist and her assistant is just doing their nails," Major said. "Serena’s teaching them how to do nails—she’s taking courses. She’s gearing up to open her own salon. She’s been talking about this for a while—I think she got distracted because of her illness in 2011."
She's teaching her physiotherapist to do nails? Bless! As for the show? It'll most likely be based in LA, where Serena wants to open up shop.
From the sounds of it, Major's been following the sisters for the past few years—she chats about filming Serena at the (decidedly non-punk) 2011 Met Gala—so if anyone has the full scoop, it'd be her, right? We're just waiting for the press release. Any day now...
