From boxes of chocolates to dozens of roses, Valentine's Day has to be the sweetest holiday of the year. It's also a good excuse to indulge in creative nail art—after all, you will be using your hands to open up love letters, pick up bouquets, and maybe even flash a new engagement ring. We rounded up ten designs to suit any style, whether you favor ultra girly reds and pinks or swear by barely-there nude.
Heart Art – Nail guru Jin Soon Choi dreamt up this abstract twist on the heart shape, which has our own modernist blood-pumpers all aflutter.

Glitter Glam – Try an alternative color such as indigo to serve as a base for a glitter top coat and unique heart-shaped patterns in contrasting fuchsia.
Cynic's Special – Even those who hate V-Day can enjoy poking fun with these candy-hearts–inspired nails emblazoned with not-so-sweet messages.
Get Naked – Nude nails create a more subtle look, while mini hearts in white make a sweet statement.
Dark Horse – Eschew the typical girly hues for black in a matte texture. "Love" scribbled in cursive keeps this design V-Day appropriate.
Lovely Layers – Superimposing complementary polishes results in a fun plaid finish. Tip: Use a strip of tape across your nails to get that asymmetrical line.
Ombré Only - If you're not a fan of elaborate nail art, a faded effect is just as attention-grabbing. This look actually works any time of the year when you switch it up with other shades.
Pretty in Pink – Combine plain pink polish with accent nails decked out in gold glitter and stripes.
Two-Tone Tips – We went weak in the knees when we spotted this layered look, created by Deborah Lippmann for Honor's Fall 2014 runway show. The manicurist painted Break 4 Love bubblegum pink polish over bold red hue It's Raining Men.
