Ralph Lauren photoshopped a model's waist smaller than her head

has put her foot down in the past for eating disorders in the industry and now she's championing the fight against retouching. She blogged that her upcoming campaign with Canadian retailer Jacobs will be published in all its natural glory because of their new "no retouching policy."
Over the years, Photoshop abuse has become a rampant problem in the fashion industry. Legs are lengthened, waists slimmed and blemishes retouched until the women in the images resemble supposedly perfect specimens. But it's gotten to the point of absurdity. With cases like a Ralph Lauren ad where "a model's waist was slimmed so severely, her head appeared to be wider than her waist" being exposed by the media, people are fed up.
Even the American Medical Association is getting in on the action. They've adopted a policy against use of Photoshop in advertising because of the link between "exposure to media-propagated images of unrealistic body image to eating disorders and other child and adolescent health problems." They hope advertisers will work with eating disorder specialists to come up with a set of guidelines and rules for ads, similar to the ones the UK has.
