Kate Upton's French 'Elle' Shoot Is Cute, Cleavage-Free

Kate Upton's photo shoot for French Elle's January issue is really making us wish summer would get here already. In the spread — appropriately titled American Beauty — the swimsuit model puts on actual clothes to lounge by the pool and wash her vintage car.

This is groundbreaking stuff, considering that when we think "pool" and "Kate Upton," pictures like this one, which Terry Richardson took for GQ, come to mind.

The model also engages in other great American pastimes in the Elle photos, like drinking maple syrup straight from the bottle.

And wearing panda hats for no reason.

This month, British Vogue also dressed Kate Upton in some looks that were less racy than the bikinis and lingerie magazines usually put her in — a deliberate styling choice by the glossy's editor in chief Alexandra Shulman, who hopes to see the model taken more seriously by the fashion world.

But we think, at this point, Upton has already proved that she has what it takes to pull off a shoot in a high-profile fashion mag — she also landed a sexy spread in V's spring 2013 issue — no matter how many (or few) clothes she's wearing. Unless she breaks out the panda hat again. That we might not be able to take seriously.
