American model Kendra Spears has traveled around the world and walked runways and graced campaigns for luxury labels such as Louis Vuitton, Diane Von Furstenberg, Christian Lacroix, Lanvin, and Calvin Klein—and she's about to embark another great adventure. According to a news release from the office of the Aga Khan—yes, that Aga Khan, the Imam (spiritual leader) of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims—Spears is engaged to his eldest son, Prince Rahim Aga Khan.
That's them on the right—aren't they a gorgeous couple?
Prince Rahim Aga Khan earned his BA from Brown University and his executive management degree from the Navarra Business School in Barcelona. He works in poverty-reduction efforts and micro-credit activities for the Aga Khan Development Network—"one of the largest private systems of agencies fostering social, cultural, and economic development in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East."
Kendra Spears earned her BA in Sociology from the University of Washington. She's been a model since 2008, when she was discovered on MySpace (models are being discovered via social networking everyday, didn't you know?) and competed in the Ford Supermodel of the World competition.
According to the news release, the couple will be married in a Muslim ceremony. No news yet on whether Spears will continue her modeling career after her wedding.
