Daphne Guinness is an eccentric one, that's for sure. But we absolutely, positively adore her. Without her—and women like her—who would wear all the wild, crazy and fabulous fashion we love? For the 2011 Met Gala, the heiress dazzled in a fantastical lilac feathered ball gown by Alexander Mcqueen.
But that wasn't it.
Prior to making her grand entrance on the red carpet, Daphne executed a performance piece in the store window of Barneys. The spectacle was short, only about 8-minutes, but it was still interesting to watch. She started out in a unique gold Alexander McQueen jumpsuit with modern scale-like detailing. Then, she made her way, cat-like, to a clear dressing table. After several seconds of writhing on the table, Daphne disappeared behind a clouded screen and an assistant helped her put on her gown. Afterwards, she carefully unwound the sheer scarf she had on and exited the window to an awaiting convertible.
While we kind of wanted to see how this avant-garde queen actually gets ready—as in how she does her hair and makeup—we still had fun watching her prance around. What did you think of her Met Gala outfit and performance?
