We were really excited for, like, three seconds when we read that Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton had landed on the cover of a women's magazine. The fashionable new royal has, so far, declined to be photographed for any and all fashion magazines—even Vogue!—so to see Kate the Great on a cover? What a coup!

Well, kind of.

Turns out the August 2012 cover of Marie Claire South Africa features Kate Middleton's head Photoshopped on a model's body. Yup—it's a fake Kate!

"We were so inspired by her fairytale wedding and her life as a modern-day princess, which is why we elected Kate Middleton as our cover star for the August issue," the magazine's editor Aspasia Karras told the Telegraph. "The cover is actually a hyper-real illustration of Kate, meant to be a fan art tribute to fashion's new royal icon."

Fake fan-art covers! What will they think of next?
