Could there be anything better in this world than a column dedicated to the ramblings of
Karl Lagerfeld? No? Didn't think so. And
WSJ. magazine's new Editor-in-Chief,
Kristina O’Neill, seems to agree.
According to a
report in
WWD, the Kaiser has signed on to pen a column for
WSJ. magazine's debut issue under O'Neill's direction, which hits newsstands on February 16th.
Alongside a few other unexpected "luminaries in their field" — Serbian artist
Marina Abramovic and pro-basketballer
Dwyane Wade, to name a few — the designer will sound off on a topic O'Neill feels is "pervasive in the ether." For her first issue, it will be discipline.
“Discipline sort of kept coming up," O'Neill said. "It was one of those words that I kept hearing at dinner parties. It gave me this idea to talk to different people in different fields.”
Considering Lagerfeld juggles a multitude of roles — designer for
Chanel,
Fendi, and his own lines,
Karl Lagerfeld and
Karl — while simultaneously taking on about 1,000 outside projects — Diet Coke bottle designing, hotel interior
decorating, cat daddy-ing, er,
cat parenting — he's pretty much the perfect person to address what it takes to be disciplined. Don't you think?
Either way, we know he's bound to say
something worth reading.
