Carey Mulligan Goes Full Daisy Buchanan in 'Vogue''s May Issue

(Vogue)

Anna Wintour has been all over Baz Luhrmann's forthcoming adaptation of The Great Gastby for over a year. (Remember how Luhrmann directed the videos for the Met Costume Institute's 2012 "Schiaparelli and Prada" exhibit? And how Carey Mulligan and Wintour chaired the corresponding Met Gala?) So a Carey-Mulligan-as-Daisy-Buchanan Vogue cover was kind of inevitable. And...here it is!

Ta-da!

The actress is in full flapper gear, including an acid velvet Oscar de la Renta gown and some serious art deco diamonds.

Inside, there are more gorgeous photos, and we learned a few fun facts about Carey while paging through her profile. Like...

She compares Daisy Buchanan to a Kardashian.

"She feels like she’s living in a movie of her own life. She’s constantly on show, performing all the time. Nothing bad can happen in a dream. You can’t die in a dream. She’s in her own TV show. She’s like a Kardashian."

And Baz Luhrmann reportedly saw Scarlett Johansson, Michelle Williams, Blake Lively, Keira Knightley, and Natalie Portman for Mulligan's role of Daisy, but Carey had the best chemistry with Leonardo DiCaprio.

Also, when she found out she got the role, she burst into tears and then "partied until all hours" with the Olsen twins. Like one does.
