Liya Kebede's Natural Beauty

(Source: Neilson Barnard/Getty Images North America) Sometimes what makes a look all the more lovely  isn't what you put into it––but what you leave out.  Liya Kebede showcased her natural beauty at the David Yurman Townhouse in NYC yesterday. The supermodel and designer (check out her line, lemlem) stepped out for a Mother's Day-themed event to benefit her non-profit The Liya Kebede Foundation, which supports maternal health initiatives in Africa. (Kebede was born in Ethiopia, and during the weekends of April 26 and May 3, jeweler David Yurman will donate a percentage of sales to the Foundation.)

Wearing a pretty, silver-and-black striped belted tunic top and black skirt, Liya looked gorgeous. But what caught our eye the most was really the striking simplicity of her understated hair and makeup, complemented by silver boho jewelry (including the new Petite Pave Love ID Bracelet). All she needed to let her natural features shine was a dewy, even complexion, combed brows and mascara, and subtle lip gloss. Even her manicure was a soft, neutral shade.

The moral of this story? Don't be afraid to tone things down this spring. If there was a ever a case for the "less is more" style credo, this is it.
