Exclusive Interview: Jennette McCurdy, StyleBistro Celebrity Guest Editor

Jennette McCurdy (Getty Images) Jennette McCurdy  Just because she stars on one of television's hottest shows, doesn't mean iCarly actress Jennette McCurdy let's it go to her head. On the contrary, this easygoing starlet, who also happens to be an emerging country star, is as down-to-earth as they come, enthusiastically dispensing her quickly growing style and beauty know-how as StyleBistro's latest celebrity guest editor.

Developing a sense of style during the teen years is tough enough without having to face  constant cameras and red carpets. As one of Nickelodeon's brightest stars, Jennette has tackled an embarrassing premiere moment (totally not her fault), learned how to dress her petite figure (no baggy tops here) and even does her own stage makeup while touring across the country.

Check out a few snippets from our convo with Jennette!

SB: Where do you draw style inspiration from?
I went to New York recently and loved the structure of the buildings. I noticed how the people walking around wore everything very tailored. I saw how cool it looked and it looked very classy.

SB: To date, what's been your favorite red carpet look?
I liked the BCBG turquoise dress last year to the Kids' Choice Awards a lot, and I wore a pink BCBG dress with just a black silk ribbon added to the American Music Awards in November and I liked that a lot too. I love BCBG!

SB: What style tips have you picked up from the country industry?
I've definitely learned that a great pair of jeans can never be underestimated, or a great pair of boots. That's something I take to heart.

SB: What item can you not leave home without?
I have this one little Michael Kors double sided [rollerball]. It has a perfume on one side and a lip gloss on the other. It's kind of a good luck charm; if I don't put a few swipes on of my Michael Kors, I feel like I can't do anything.

SB: Spend or splurge?
You don't have to spend a lot to look good and I'm very very frugal with my money. Sometimes it can seem silly to buy a shirt that's $500. I think it's important to know you don't have to splurge to get something cool. Check out Jennette McCurdy's lookbooks on StyleBistro:
