Jordin Sparks' 'do, while casual and easy to style, looks perfectly paired with a shimmery dress and sparkly earrings. The versatile look will also be equally lovely with a simple day dress or even just a pair of jeans and a T-shirt.

Below I've listed the six steps for recreating Jordin's updo along with a video found on youtube showing a similar DIY style.

1. Part hair down the center.

2. Section out bangs or two-inch pieces of hair from along both sides of the part.

3. Finger comb hair and draw it loosely back into a ponytail at the middle of the back of the head.

4. Take a hair elastic and wind it around the base of the ponytail until it is secure, however, instead of drawing the hair completely through on the last pass, pull it only halfway through so the ponytail creates a small loop.

5. Once the ponytail become a small loop, take the remaining long ends and wrap them around the ponytail's base, tucking the tips back into the hair elastic. Insert u-shaped hair pins or bobby pins around the perimeter of the loop to keep it in place.

6. Style bangs as usual, or take the longer sections, draw them back and wrap them around the looped ponytail, again pinning any loose ends in place.
