'The Faux Fauxhawk': Hollywood's Hairstyle of the Moment—Do You Love or Loathe?

The ladies of Hollywood are going to great lengths—er, or should we say heightswith their locks recently, thanks to the latest red carpet craze, a look we're officially dubbing the faux fauxhawk (ie: hair that's not quite pompadour, not quite quiff, but somewhere in the middle with some serious sky-high action going on up top).

Now, we're not just talking about the styles spotted at last week's punktastic Met Gala. (Although, that was some hair, no?) Over the past few months, the look has, ahem, popped up at cocktail events here and there, each time with a new tweak—a reinvented French twist (as in Demi Lovato's case this weekend), a pompadour-ponytail hybrid, and of course, there's always the traditional Miley Cyrus.

Check out the different ways celebs have sported the volume-above look lately, and let us know how Hollywood's hair of the moment makes you feel.

This weekend, Demi Lovato hit up Wango Tango, breathing new life into the classical French twist with her, well, twist on the style. Here's another angle for your viewing pleasure.

Remember this hairstyle Kaley Cuoco wore to the 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards?

As for Julianne Hough, for the 2013 Golden Globe Awards, she asked her stylist to give her this look, which she found on Pinterest.

Okay, so we had to include Jennifer Morrison's hair from the Met Gala. See, it looked like a top knot from the front...

... Only to reveal its true fauxhawk-y form from the side.

At the Arrested Development Season 4 premiere, Portia de Rossi gave the look a try with wispy bangs that, we're not going to lie, sooort of had a Something About Mary feel to them. But, Lindsay Bluth Rossi rocked them nonetheless.

And last but not least, it's impossible not to have the fauxhawk discussion without bringing up Miley Cyrus, who arguably might be the girl responsible for the style's sudden interest.
