Kim KardashianKhloe KardashianNaya RiveraKate Mara... it seems as if a lot of boldface names have come down with a serious case of blonde ambition all of a sudden. But for every four or five freshly flaxen starlets flaunting their new hair hue out in Hollywood, there's one or two who have effectively resisted the bleach in lieu of taking the late Amy Winehouse's soulful, symphonic advice and gone "Back to Black."

And it doesn't just stop there. While Jessie J merely metaphorically traded in her platinum card for black, a few raven-haired babes—namely Rihanna, Melanie Fiona, and Angela Simmons—have taken their sable look to new lengths (literally). They're all currently carrying the 'sexy mermaid waves' torch, a.k.a. crinkled locks that are close to sweeping the waist.

We can certainly see why this look is so appealing. Whether the waves are worn tightly crimped, a little looser, or kinda curly, one thing's for sure—the combination of the inky hue and drastic length equals one effortlessly enigmatic look (especially for winter).

Now we can't help but wonder—who'll be next to cross over to the elongated dark side?
