Hark! Holiday parties are calling, meaning it's time to lather on the sequins and break out the teasing comb—big hair season has officially arrived!
Last night at the 2012 CMT "Artists Of The Year" Awards, country darling Miranda Lambert went full festive force in a beaded back-baring Jovani Couture cocktail dress, metallic Giuseppe Zanotti python pumps, and sky-high hair that hailed the heavens.
To get ultra-voluminous hair a la Miranda Lambert—because let's be honest, nobody does big hair like a country singer can—start by spraying roots with a volumizing spray. We're big fans of Oscar Blandi's "Pronto" Texture & Volume Spray ($25 at Nordstrom.com) for the full, long-lasting texture it offers; plus the citrus scent is oh-so-yummy!
Next use a teasing comb to amp up your roots. Starting at the back of your crown, pull 2"-wide sections of your hair upward. Then, about 2-3" up from the root, start raking hair in a downward motion to create what, as much as we hate to call it, a rats-nest of hair. Continue in small sections until you reach the desired amount of volume.
Now comes the "backcombing" part—use the comb to slick back your freshly-teased tresses, making sure to hide and smooth out any knots. Finally, turn the comb around and fluff up sections with the pintail or prongs (depending upon the style of your comb). Spritz everything down with some hairspray, and you're all set to mingle and jingle the night away!
How do you wear your hair for the holidays? Do you have any teasing secrets? Sound off in the comments, below!
