Christie Brinkley Launches Hair2Wear Collection

(FameFlynet Pictures)We’ve all been there: In a rush to get out the door and frustrated with hair that will not cooperate (translation: magically fall into place). Extensions are a great option to add fullness to hair, but the process can be daunting, and the maintenance a headache––literally.

Enter Christie Brinkley. The beautiful and ever-beaming blonde, who transcended the modeling world by scoring three consecutive Sports Illustrated covers and prevailed for 25 years as the face of Cover Girl, toyed around with the idea of false hair in 2012, when she was performing in Chicago on Broadway. “Every night at the end of the show, I had to take off my Roxie wig and greet my guests,” Brinkley declared at the launch of her collection in Manhattan. “Believe it or not, this was the most stressful part of doing a Broadway show, trying to get my wig and the pin curls off and get dressed again and presentable.” Serendipitously enough, it was then that she was approached about a Hair2Wear collaboration.

At the November 13th launch, Brinkley rocked her signature blonde curls, enhanced with her own extensions. Her other favored accessories include the Pony ($39) “for SoulCycle and jogging” and the Natural Tone Hair Wrap ($16) “for yoga and Total Gym.”

I decided to give the Full-Sweeping Side Fringe, which retail for $24, a whirl to see how I would look with long bangs. They gave an instant lift to both my confidence and my otherwise flat, barely-styled hair. Each hair piece boasts up to 12 hand-blended hues, so matching the accessory to my two-toned hair was effortless. I also learned it was incredibly user-friendly with tiny snap-in clips that even include silicone strips to protect real hair from damage. The braided headbands, which come in four styles and each retail for $10, are also easy to use, as I conveniently learned the next morning after oversleeping. The greatest appeal of the collection, in my opinion, is the versatility it offers, without the commitment.

The kicker? All products are made from synthetic hair, though you would never be able to tell, as they are able to endure heated styling tools and retain their effects. Even extensions that come pre-curled will return to their original shapes after washing or coming into contact with water. The collection also includes 10 styles of natural-looking wigs in 16 different shades. Not only are the pieces affordable, ranging from $10 to $259, they are also durable and can withstand excessive usage with proper care.
