In Case You're Wondering, Rihanna's Interesting AMA Hairstyle is Called a 'Doobie'

Who's up for another round of beauty school?

At last night's American Music Awards ceremony, Rihanna turned up in true rock star form to accept the highly coveted Icon Award (at a mere 25 years old) wearing a sexy sequined bra and skirt combo, and surprisingly—a doobie hairstyle.

What exactly is a 'doobie' you ask? It's a protective hairstyle most often worn to bed by African-American and Latina women.

Allow me to explain. When we've taken the time to straighten and/or heat-style our strands, before we slumber we brush our hair clockwise around the crown and pin it down with oversize bobby pins. This keeps the hairstyle intact come morning, simultaneously protecting our strands from breakage and split ends that can occur overnight (cotton pillowcases can be so rough).

Anyway, when she removes the pins in the morning, her hair will styled in a 'wrap' and it'll probably look a lot like THIS.

Lesson learned?
