Hair Extensions 101: What NOT to Do

Made in Chelsea starlet Lucy Watson rarely gets it wrong on the red carpet, but she seriously missed her sartorial mark last week at the London premiere of Anchorman 2.

While we loved her flirty, Carrie Bradshaw-esque feathered skirt and blazer combo, her hair was an entirely different story, as we were able to tell that she was wearing hair extensions.

Not that that's a bad thing; totally switching up your strands and playing with different lengths can be quite fun. But here's the thing: Only you should know that you're wearing them. If you look at Lucy's locks above, it's easy to see where her hair ends and where her extensions begin. (It's eye level, if you couldn't tell.)

Think of the photos above as a cosmetic cautionary tale—when wearing clip-ins, make sure the fake hair matches your natural hair texture and color exactly. That way there won't be a completely obvious line of demarcation between the real and the faux.
