3 Hair Bows That Look Elegant, Not Cheesy

Typically, big bows are best left off bedecking little blue boxes and small people, like Suri Cruise. But Kerry Washington's look at last night's Django Unchained photocall in Berlin stopped us dead in our tracks—a bow that's as elegant as it is adorable? Um, consider us obsessed!
Along with the darling detail, which came straight from the Louis Vuitton spring 2013 runway, the actress wore a checkered Louis Vuitton dress (from the same collection), pointy-toe Christian Louboutin pumps, and a black Vince Camuto box clutch.
She's not the only one to give the sophisticated style a swing—Jennifer Lawrence also sports the same bow in black in February's Vanity Fair! Feeling inspired, we rounded up three pretty picks that'll have you looking like this...
Instead of this... (Thanks, mom.)
This is me, at age 4, demonstrating a prime example of a hair bow you should never, ever wear.
For an evening affair:
Made from silk with extra-comfy ends—no dreaded headband headache here!—this L. Erickson accessory ($24 at Nordstrom.com) is elegant without being over-the-top, meaning at just 6-inches, it promises to be seen, but it won't steal the show.
For label lovers:
Make the ultimate statement with Miu Miu's glitter and suede style ($185 at Net-a-Porter.com). This would add just the right amount of retro flair to a prim collared shirt, no?
For the cold:
Sadly, winter's going to be around for awhile. Avoid hat hair while keeping your ears nice and toasty with this warm and cozy Fred Flare head wrap ($20 at FredFlare.com).
Bonus: For a really unique (but gorgeous!) twist on the trend, we found this step-by-step DIY hair bow tutorial on Pinterest that teaches you how to style your actual hair into a bow. Check out it, here.
What do you think of Kerry Washington's look, chic or too sweet? What about headbands in general—can they be worn past pre-school age or are they better left for the playground? Let's discuss in the comments, below!
