Retro Hair Idea: Faux Finger Waves Courtesy Of Emily Blunt

(Source: PacificCoastNews)You don't have to be a cast member of Downton Abbey to love a good finger wave. In case you're not quite ready to take the retro plunge, fake it with a stylish waved updo like Emily Blunt. Blunt showed off her elegant side with a perfectly placed bun, wavy bun. How very 1920s of her! Get the scoop on how to create the look at home, below:

Step 1) Begin with hair that has a bit of wave. Either accentuate natural waves with a textured beach spray, or curl straighter hair with a medium-barreled curling iron to get the look.

Step 2) Make a deep side part and section out a two-inch piece of hair from the part, going along the front hairline.

Step 3) On both sides of the head, section out hair along the temples.

Step 4) Finger comb the rest of the hair and loosely pull it back into a ponytail at the nape of the neck.

Step 5) Roll the ponytail starting at the ends and working up. Tightly roll the hair upward, securing the roll with bobby pins at the nape of the neck.

Step 6) Take one of the sections of hair from along the temples and loosely sweep it back while forming an upward twist along the back hairline. Tuck the ends of this section into the rolled ponytail and insert a few more pins to hold this piece in place.

Step 7) Style the opposite side by repeating Step 6.

Step 8) Take the final section of hair and smooth it along the front hairline. Pin it in place about two inches out from the part. Keep the ends loose and wavy.

Step 9) Mist the completed style with a healthy blast of hairspray.
