Braid of the Day: Here's the Secret to Nicole Scherzinger's Flyaway-Free Hairstyle

We love a good braided updo here at StyleBistro HQ! But one of the trickiest things that comes with mastering this art form—it really is a craft, right?—is learning how to deal with all those itty-bitty, super-pesky flyways that appear the second you pull back your hair.
Cue the gorgeous Nicole Scherzinger at last night's Music Industry Trusts' Awards. The singer's raven locks were parted straight down the center and twisted back into a tightly-woven braided bun. Upon further inspection—not a single wisp of baby hair was out of place. Not one!
We've tested tons and tons of products to keep our flyaways at bay, and one of our favorite solutions seems like an odd choice—but we swear by it. Pomade! Seriously, this stuff isn't just for Danny Zuko and the T-Birds.
Rub a small dab of pomade along the hairline—using very little product is key!—to blend and smooth frizz down. Opt for a formula with a heavy consistency and smoothing properties to avoid that whole grease monkey look. (Because grease is not the word here.) We love Murray's Original Pomade, plus it's only $3 a tin!
