Hair DIY To Try: Gwen Stefani's Voluminous Bump

(Source: Francois Durand/Getty Images Europe)You don't have to take the plunge into platinum territory to get a mane like Gwen Stefani. You can get a 'do worthy of the rocker chick in just a few minutes with a few styling tricks. Stylist Sam Villa broke down one of Stefani's hottest looks, the voluminous bump, to help you unleash your inner glam rocker.
(Source: Bauer Griffin)Step 1) Use finger to create a wide section on the top of the head starting from the front to the back (like a mohawk). Pull sectioned hair forward.

Step 2) Starting in the back, take one-inch, horizontal sections of hair from the mohawk section and spray with teasing spray or hairspray. Villa suggests Redken Quick Tease 15 ($17.99) at the roots to give texture to the base.

Step 3)
Use the fine teeth of a comb to backcomb the base of each section until you get to the front.

Step 4)
Leave the teased mohawk section alone and concentrate on the sides. Spray a moderate amount of hairspray on the sides and slick back with a brush.

Step 5)
Use a dryer on a low speed setting to dry hairspray and give sides a slicked-back shape.

Step 6)
Gently smooth back the top layer of the mohawk section.

Step 7)
Pull sides back as smooth and tight as possible. Crisscross two bobby pins to secure hair into place.
