(ImaxTree)Pop quiz: Which of these looks familiar? For many fashion innovators, including (left to right) Stella McCartney, Christopher Kane, Jason Wu, and Reed Krakoff, Spring 2014 collections embraced muted hues and sensual sheer fabrics, a welcome shift for the new year. Accessories followed suit, as designers opted for less chunky jewelry and instead chose more minimal options.

The classic Jason Wu bandage dress (door number three was the winner) spoke for itself, and the actress subtly supported with a thin crisscross bracelet and small hoop earrings.

In such understated looks, the statement lies in the garment itself, releasing women from the clutch of popular statement jewelry. Christopher Kane (whose blouse we deemed ideal for Jaime King's minimal street style) especially made this shift clear cut. On top of muted moments, he incorporated cunning cutouts into formal and casual garments alike. Taylor Schilling demonstrates the luxury of simplicity a la Kane in an Elle photo shoot to promote the new season of Orange is the New Black.
