Fashion Trend Report: Wrap Skirts

Forget the pencil skirt: This season, it's all about slinky wrap-around styles.

Sometimes, a single garment can conjure not just a feeling, but an entire scene. Take the slinky wrap skirt, for example: To us, it screams dimly-lit downtown hotel bar, an easy-on-the-eyes crowd, and a really, really good martini.

Care to join? This spring's spate of  wrap-style skirts—shown at Narciso RodriguezPreen, and Edun, among others—is all about sophisticated sensuality . And it's available in a few distinct speeds: knee-length, fitted and thigh-baring (like Heidi Klum and Sophia Bush's picks), it's borderline femme-fatale; short and sweet (à la Emma Watson), it feels architectural and fresh. The longer, demure version spotted on actress Rebecca Dayan is even office-appropriate.

In short, there's a wrap skirt out there for everyone—and the right one can be something of a miracle worker by flattering existing curves, and creating the illusion of nonexistent ones. To that, we'll gladly raise a glass.
