Tilda Swinton Covered Herself in Centipedes for 'W'

(W Magazine)

When she's not sleeping in a transparent box at the MoMA, Tilda Swinton is doing other Tilda Swinton-y things, like covering herself in centipedes, just to prove that, even with an insect hat on, she's still more stylish than 99.9% of people.

The above photo appears in W Magazine's May issue, alongside other surreal, Tim Walker-lensed snapshots of the actress, in homage to some of her favorite artists — Salvador Dali, Giorgio de Chirico, Remedios Varo and Leonora Carrington.

Though they may look as if they were mechanically placed, we waited hours for these centipedes to crawl into their meaningful positions, decking me out with eyebrows and mustaches,’ Swinton explained. Hours!

For the same shoot, the actress also doused herself in white paint.

Stuck branches in her hair.

Borrowed someone else's mouth.

And turned herself into a fashion troll doll.
