Givenchy Is Taking a Break From Couture

Paris haute couture week kicks off a month from today, and the folks at Givenchy just dropped a major couture bomb (it's like a regular bomb, but hand-embroidered)—they won't be showing this season!

According to WWD, Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci wants to make couture shopping an even more personal experience for the handful of people who actually buy the hand-made pieces. Back in 2010, he started skipping runway shows in favor of showcasing his designs in a still-life format at a town house on Paris's Place Vendome. And now he's ditching that approach to work with his clients individually.

So, while we won't be seeing more lookbooks full of couture-clad models posing with German Shepherds any time soon, Beyonce can still swan around in all the Givenchy haute feather dusters her heart desires. Which is at least some consolation.
