One of the best annual events on my fashion calendar comes every May when the Savannah College of Art and Design presents its BA show. As part of the yearly festivities, school trustee Andre Leon Talley presents a Lifetime Achievement Award to a luminary in the industry—previous honorees have included Manolo Blahnik, Diane Von Furstenberg, Tom Ford, Vera Wang, and Marc Jacobs.
This year's Andre Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award honoree is the inimitable—and charming!—Francisco Costa, Creative Director of Calvin Klein's women's collection.
Costa's appearance at SCAD this weekend was marked with not only the presentation of the award, but also an open forum discussion hosted by veteran fashion journalist Constance White (more on that later). Select pieces from Costa's spring 2013 collection for Calvin Klein are also on exhibit at the college museum through September 15th.
