Okay, so this is totally unconfirmed, but we just had
to share. Grazia
that Alexander Wang
won't be the only new face at Balenciaga
this fashion month — the designer's longtime pal Carine Roitfeld
may be joining him as the label's new stylist.
If the rumors are true, this means that the CR Fashion Book
EIC (and newly-minted global fashion director of Harper's Bazaar
) would be edging out Balenciaga's current stylist, Marie-Amelie Sauve, who has worked on Nicolas Ghesquiere's runway shows and campaigns for years. Talk about a total brand overhaul.
It also means that we have a slightly
better idea of what to expect on the Balenciaga runway — sexed-up silhouettes, black leather, and major heels wouldn't surprise us if Carine really is
taking the styling reins.Really
being the operative word, because Roitfeld was, after all, banned from attending Balenciaga runway shows back in 2010. At the time, the Vogue
editor-in-chief was rumored to have sent the luxury label's samples to MaxMara (where she was a consultant). There was also rumored to be bad blood between Ghesquiere's good friend (and Balenciaga stylist) Sauve and Roitfeld following a falling out when Sauve was working at Vogue
. All rumors and drama!
Tell us, what do you think of the potential partnership? Let us know in the comments!
's story has since been taken down, which could mean it's totally false, or
that Balenciaga is scrambling to put together an official press release.
